Use Program Tools to help Understand your Family History and Create a Genealogy
Tree
Ancestry programs are filled with features and tools that can assist you to build
and understand the data that you have, as well as important facts that you might
be missing.
Date Calculator
You can use a date calculator to figure out when an event occurred.
There are many uses to find beginning and ending dates when it comes to genealogical
data. Many old documents recorded events in years, months, and days. Some death
certificates still record a person’s age at death this way.
Examples of using a Date Calculator:
- If someone was married on June 12, 1900 (end date) and was 20 years and 9 months,
you can calculate when they were born (start date).
- If you find a headstone and someone was born on February 5, 1919 (start date) and
died May 6, 1995 (end date), you can calculate the number of years, months and days
that person lived.

Being able to figure out the relationship between two people in your tree is very
helpful in understanding how they are related. Our tool describes the relationship,
as well as, draws how the relationship is established between the two people through
